最新一期“梦想改造家”聚焦上海一处百年老宅，这座房产由主楼和附属建筑构成，是吴老师的爷爷吴镜渊先生在上世纪初购入的。吴老师蔡老师夫妇婚后便搬到了附属建筑单独居住，并在这里迎来了他们唯一的女儿吴悦。

The latest episode of "Dream Home Makeover" focuses on a century-old residence in Shanghai. This property, consisting of the main building and annexe, was purchased by Mr. Wu Jingyuan, the grandfather of Mr. Wu, in the early 20th century. After marriage, Mr. Wu and Mrs. Cai moved into the annexe, where they welcomed their only daughter, Wu Yue.
 

吴家是医学世家，吴悦受家学渊源的影响，也踏上了学医之路。在大学毕业之后她继续出国深造，在事业上取得了很好的发展，也在异国成了家，安定了下来。而吴蔡夫妇两人，则依然在这一方老宅的土地上，安然度日，静享流年。

The Wu family has a strong medical background, and influenced by this heritage, Wu Yue embarked on a journey in the field of medicine after graduating from university. After completing her studies, she achieved significant success in her career abroad and established a family in the foreign land. Meanwhile, Mr. Wu and Mrs. Cai continued to lead a tranquil life on the familiar grounds of their ancestral home, savoring the quiet passage of time.
 

因去年的一场突发疾病，吴老师遗憾去世，留下了已然84岁的蔡老师，开始独自生活。老年人身体机能的下降让独居变得非常不易，带着没有送别父亲最后一程的遗憾和对母亲欠缺照顾的愧疚，吴悦在父亲去世后开始频繁往返中外，希望在母亲还在世的日子里，能够尽可能多地陪伴在侧。

Due to a sudden illness last year, Mr. Wu passed away, leaving behind Mrs. Cai, who is now 84 years old. She has begun living alone, and the declining physical functions associated with old age have made independent living quite challenging. Filled with regret for not being able to bid her father farewell on his final journey and a sense of guilt for not providing enough care for her mother, Wu Yue started shuttling frequently between home and abroad after her father's passing. She hopes to spend as much time as possible by her mother's side while she is still alive.
 

也就是在这样的情况下，吴悦注意到这座祖宅年久失修，房屋已经出现了许多的恶劣情况，急需重新修缮以让老人家的晚年生活更加舒适。于是，她联系到“梦想改造家”节目组，希望借助他们的力量，为母亲创造一个温馨宜居的适老化住所。

In such circumstances, Wu Yue noticed that the old home, aged and dilapidated, had encountered numerous severe issues, requiring urgent restoration to provide a more comfortable living space for the elderly. Consequently, she reached out to the "Dream Home Makeover" program, hoping to leverage their expertise in creating a cozy and elderly-friendly residence for Mrs. Cai.
 

接下这个艰巨任务的是上海知名设计师吴滨，无间设计创始人，也是一位对 Cement Design 十分熟悉的室内设计师。基于对艺术水泥材料的了解，吴滨决定将项目中的两件家具委托给 Cement Design 团队进行制作。一件是位于入门处的换鞋凳，另一件是置于客厅中心的多功能茶几。

Taking on this challenging task is renowned Shanghai designer Wu Bin, founder of W.DESIGN, who is also familiar with Cement Design's material. With a deep understanding of Cement Design’s coating, Wu Bin has chosen to entrust the production of two key furniture pieces in the project to the Cement Design team. One is a hallway bench located at the entrance, and the other is a multi-functional coffee table positioned at the centre of the living room.
 

首先是换鞋凳，除了提供坐着换鞋的功能外，凳子的中间还设计有储物功能。在设计师的规划下，Cement Design团队将换鞋凳的外面和内部都覆盖了灰色的自然质感艺术水泥，远看低调沉稳，近看蕴含趣味。视觉上，拙朴的质感与院子中央那块对吴家意义深重的太湖石产生一里一外的呼应，将自然之景从室外自然过渡、淡然流转。

The first piece is a hallway bench, not only serving its practical purpose but also featuring a storage space in the middle. Under the designer's plan, the Cement Design team covered both the outside and inside of the bench with gray, naturally textured coating. From a distance, it appears modest and stable, while up close, it reveals an intriguing charm. Visually, the rustic texture harmonizes with the profound meaning of the central Taihu Stone in the courtyard, creating a seamless transition from outdoor natural beauty to a serene interior.
 

功能上，艺术水泥本身的防水性和抗污性让身处半户外区的换鞋凳可以历久弥新，完全不必担心变形、开裂、发霉等问题。其次，与传统石材不同，艺术水泥的极薄厚度让材料可以轻松附着在基层上。正因为这个特性，换鞋凳不仅拥有相对较轻的重量，使得柜门可以轻松开合，内部有充足的储物空间，同时还能保持整体的自然生态氛围。

In terms of functionality, the inherent waterproof and stain-resistant properties of Cement Design material ensure the hallway bench, situated in a semi-outdoor space, maintains its freshness over time, eliminating concerns about deformation, cracking, or mold issues. Furthermore, unlike traditional stone materials, the extremely thin thickness of the coating allows the material to easily adhere to the base layer. This characteristic not only gives the bench a lightweight profile, facilitating smooth opening and closing of cabinet doors with ample storage space inside, but also preserves a natural ambiance throughout the space.
 

接着，让我们来看看客厅中央的多功能茶几。同样得益于艺术水泥的超薄厚度，这个茶几整体非常轻巧，可以根据生活习惯轻松移动。除此之外，设计师还现场展示了茶几的收纳功能，轻量化使得使用者可以单手轻松打开和关闭盖子。Cement Design 材料的附着，使得茶几在确保外观美感的同时实现了更多的功能。


Moving on, let's take a look at the multi-functional coffee table in the centre of the living room. Also benefiting from the ultra-thin thickness of coating, this coffee table is exceptionally lightweight, allowing easy mobility based on lifestyle preferences. In addition, the designer also demonstrated the storage function of the coffee table on-site. The lightweight design allows users to easily open and close the lid with one hand. The application of Cement Design materials enables the coffee table to achieve more functionality while ensuring aesthetic appeal.

Cement Design 团队在这个项目中不仅仅是简单地提供材料，更是响应了设计师和业主的需求，创造出了符合实际功能需求和审美追求的定制家具。这两件家具，不仅解决了蔡老师居住中的实际问题，还为老宅注入了现代的设计理念，让古老的建筑焕发出新的生命力。

In this project, the Cement Design team not only provided materials but also responded to the needs of the designer and homeowner, creating custom furniture that aligns with both functional requirements and aesthetic pursuits. These two pieces of furniture not only addressed practical issues in Ms. Cai's living space but also infused the old residence with modern design concepts, revitalizing the ancient architecture with a new sense of vitality.
